Ram Praises Hard Work with Special Thanksgiving Day Video Ad

Ram Trucks joins millions this Thanksgiving Day NFL football game series on CBS and FOX as it salutes hardworkers and families in this 90 second video tribute here:

From a grandfather who spent a lifetime in the mill to a single working mom of three, “Praise” honors all those who work hard making their families and this nation strong.

Oliver Francois, Chief Marketing Officer, FCA – Global says, “Appropriately airing on Thanksgiving Day when families across the country take time to reflect and giving thanks, ‘Praise’ is the Ram brand’s tribute to hard-working Americans and the story of people who are the backbone of our country.”

He adds, “Just as the brand paid homage to American farm families a few years back during a Super Bowl telecast, we always look for opportunities to build unique, impactful, creative around a defining cultural moment that allows us to reach large audiences in a very effective way. ‘Praise’ adheres to our marketing mantra of thinking bolding and making a difference in both the message and the way we deliver it.”

According to Nielson ratings, more than 55 million viewers watched Thanksgiving Day football games in 2015.

Ram Phasing Out the Crosshair Grille

Having adorned its pickups for the past 35 years, the writing is on the wall, or grille, in this case, that Ram Trucks ill be phasing out the signature crosshair grille.

Fiat Chrysler head of global design Ralph Gilles told The Detroit News, “I love what the company has done by differentiating each brand – from the marketing to the materials – and it’s inspired us as designers to make sure we do that with cars themselves.” He adds, “It takes time. Establishing a brand takes five years, so we’re kind of at that point.”

Since the Detroit auto show of 2015, Ram Trucks has introduced its Rebel, Limited, Power Wagon and Laramie Longhorn model pickups with non-crosshair grilles that feature “RAM”.

Gilles says, “I’m watching this space very carefully. It’s been an experiment, and it’s working. People have responded to it. We like it. But it’s something we’re consciously going gradually.” senior analyst Michelle Krebs says, “This has been a challenge for Fiat Chrylser to make that shift from ‘Dodge Ram’ to just ‘Ram’. Changing the grille is another step in that direction in separating the brand, but it’s going to continue to be a long journey.”  Ram has thrived after leaving Dodge, with goals of moving the brand into new markets.

Ram to Sell Current 1500 into ‘19

The all-new redesigned Ram 1500 is set to launch in early 2018. However, Fiat Chrysler will build the current Ram 1500 version well into 2019.

CFO Richard Palmer said last week, “Going into 2018, having more pickup capacity will allow us to also satisfy the fleet customers’ demand on pickup, which we struggle to do today because we favor retail in the U.S. and Canadian volume, which have higher margins.” He added, “As we realign our capacity, we’re going to be able to continue to work on improving our fleet mix.

The current light-duty pickup will continue production into 2019 in suburban Detroit at the Warrant Truck Assembly as well as in Saltillo, Mexico.  Those plants plan to build 200,000 of the pickups in 2018 and 65,000 of those in 2019 before transitioning off to other products.

325,000 of the redesigned Ram 1500s will be built in 2018 at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. Production will pickup 25 percent to more than 400,000.

CEO Sergio Marchionne said, “We have taken a hard look at our level of penetration in some of the key truck areas in the U.S., and we’ve been deficient.” He adds, “And I think a lot of this has been because of the fact that we have not emulated people who have a longer history of success in this sector.”

Producing the current Ram 1500s until 2019 will ensure dealers have ample supplies of the hot-selling pickups. It will also allow a low-cost play for added fleet business with the retiring trucks, while appealing to consumers with the all-new features and technology on the new Ram 1500.

Ram Trucks All-Women Rebelle Rally

Hear from Nena Barlow, Rebelle Rally Team #129 Driver, as she talks about this unique 1,000-mile navigation-only competition called the Rebelle Rally.

Barlow is driving a stock 2016 Ram 1500 Rebel to the finish line with her navigator Kande Jacobsen, who is only able to plot their course using a map and compass.  Currently on the home stretch, they are expected to make it to San Diego, California or basecamp before crossing the finish line.

“There’s no conversation, there’s no chitchat in the truck. Its constant work, it’s constantly planning the next step,” said Barlow.

With long hard days in the truck, the Rebel provides for the best ride with great air suspension. “It’s been a fabulous vehicle. It’s very comfortable,” says Barlow.

Ram Trucks Featured in Wolverine 3

For fans of Wolverine, the new trailer for the Wolverine 3 Logan movie is out and Ram Trucks make a prominent feature in the film.

Due out on March 3, 2017, the YouTube screenshot above shows a herd of Ram Trucks pursuing the hero named Logan in Wolverine 3.

Viewers can see four Ram Trucks outfitted with black brush guards and racks built by Motobilt of Dothan, Alabama, a company that specializes in outfitting and designing vehicles with off-road parts.

A studio representative from 20th Century Fox approached owner Dan DuBose to outfit four Ram trucks for the next Wolverine movie. DuBose did not know they were for the movie until after the trucks were on site and said, “I was pretty excited about it once I found out it was for Wolverine. We didn’t know it was for Wolverine until the trucks were already there.”

DuBose and his team designed the brush guards and racks only based on an artist rendering. That wasn’t the only challenge, however. “One of the difficulties in building these trucks – we’re not allowed to drill holes or modify the trucks in any way that they can’t go back to stock,” DuBose said. “But yet we have to do all this work.”

Challenge accepted, DuBose and his team did a wonderful job of modifying the trucks with brush guards, racks, and giving them an armored appearance without drilling holes or cutting metal. DuBose said his mechanics worked hard to get the details of the trucks for Wolverine 3 just right. “There’s a since of pride about it,” he said.

Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition Updates for 2017

Debuting this weekend at the State Fair of Texas is Ram’s most popular truck in Texas, the Ram 1500 Lone Star. With brand new updates, the 2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition will greet dozens of Texans with features designed just for them.

The first update is the name.  Ram has added the word “Silver” to the existing 1500 Lone Star Edition. The Silver Edition call sign will be highlighted by adding extra bright chrome to the exterior and added updates inside.

The most obvious change on the exterior will be a new chrome grille with the brand’s crosshairs, plus chrome “Wave Mesh” inserts in the four quadrants in the grille. Chrome 20-inch wheels, shiny belt moldings, chrome mirror caps, and chrome side steps will also be added.  Inside the grille will be a cool design of the “Lone Star Silver Edition” badge which mimics those worn by the Texas Rangers, the state’s famed law enforcement officers.

Interior updates include new seats updated in either cloth or vinyl, and with the color schemes Canyon Brown/Light Frost Beige or Black/Diesel Gray.

Truck buyers may choose from 4×4 or 4×2, as well as any three available engines (V-6 gas, V-8 gas, and V-6 turbo-diesel).  The new edition will only be offered in the crew cab configuration.

The all-new Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition goes on sale later this year with a starting price of $40,315.
