With auto sales down nearly .5 percent over last year’s numbers pickup sales have continued to see a steady climb. According to Autodata Corp. pickup sales are up a steady 5.6 percent gain over this period last year and topping things off are Chrysler’s Ram Truck lineup which has sold nearly 405,000 pickup trucks in the US as of October which accounts for an 8.1 percent uptick in sales. Most notable of all is that the Ram Truck brand continues to hold a 22 percent share of the full-size pickup truck market making it one of the most popular in the US.
And Ram has no plans to stop – in 2017 Ram will begin rolling out their new 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand which comes outfitted in beige-white exterior paint and an ALL black interior with Light Slate Gray accent stitching to offset the purely pure black setting.
With pricing set to start a $45,590 the new lineup will come equipped with either a 3.6-liter V-6 or 5.7-liter V-8 engine.
As if things could not get good enough for Ram Trucks – it looks like the best is yet to come!

This year marks the 35th year that Ram is the Official Truck of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) and Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).
Held in Las Vegas, NV this December 1 – 10, thousands of rodeo enthusiasts will be in attendance for fun, interactive fan experiences with Ram Trucks including performances by country music star Natalie Stoval, daily autograph signings by country music artists, viewing parties, and truck displays.

Ram WNFR events include:
- Ram Tailgate Viewing at South Point Hotel and Casino
- PRCA Pro Rodeo Fan Zone at Thomas Mack Arena with live music performance by Natalie Stoval and the Drive each night at 5:30 pm.
- Fans are also encouraged to check out the latest Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The Ram Rebel TRX off-road concept, special edition Ram 1500 Night, and Ram 1500 Rebel will also be in attendance.
- Cowboy Christmas at the Las Vegas Convention Center will include daily autograph signings from various music artists, and an interactive 360 virtual reality experience. That experience will give fans a chance to ride up and down the streets in a Ram Laramie Limited, on a ranch in a Ram Laramie Longhorn, and off-roading in the Ram Rebel.
Ram Truck Night is December 9th at WNFR, and on December 10th, Ram Trucks will present the Ram Top Gun award to one contest who wins the most money in a single category during WNFR. The winner will go home with a brand-new Ram 3500 Heavy Duty truck.

Having adorned its pickups for the past 35 years, the writing is on the wall, or grille, in this case, that Ram Trucks ill be phasing out the signature crosshair grille.
Fiat Chrysler head of global design Ralph Gilles told The Detroit News, “I love what the company has done by differentiating each brand – from the marketing to the materials – and it’s inspired us as designers to make sure we do that with cars themselves.” He adds, “It takes time. Establishing a brand takes five years, so we’re kind of at that point.”
Since the Detroit auto show of 2015, Ram Trucks has introduced its Rebel, Limited, Power Wagon and Laramie Longhorn model pickups with non-crosshair grilles that feature “RAM”.
Gilles says, “I’m watching this space very carefully. It’s been an experiment, and it’s working. People have responded to it. We like it. But it’s something we’re consciously going gradually.”
Autotrader.com senior analyst Michelle Krebs says, “This has been a challenge for Fiat Chrylser to make that shift from ‘Dodge Ram’ to just ‘Ram’. Changing the grille is another step in that direction in separating the brand, but it’s going to continue to be a long journey.” Ram has thrived after leaving Dodge, with goals of moving the brand into new markets.
Ram Trucks has two color packages that will be appearing on Ram 1500s.
The first is an all-new 2017 limited edition Ram 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand package. Exclusive to the limited production Rebel, the package includes new body color, black-decaled performance hood, and a fully black interior.
The all black interior features all black seats with black embroidery, light slate gray accent stitching on the instrument panel, center console lid, doors and seats. Black anodized bezels are on the doors, center console, instrument panel and gauge cluster trim rings. Rubber floor mats are embossed with gray Ram’s head logos.
Arriving in December 2016, the Ram 1500 Rebel Mojave Sand will be limited in production to 1,500 units and MSRP at $45,590 plus $1,320 destination.
The second is a returning run limited run of the Ram 1500 Ignition Orange Sport model. The 2017 Ram 1500 Ignition Orange trucks will have a vivid exterior color, a black Ram’s head grille badge, black tailgate badge, black body-size badges, and a sport performance hood with black decals.
Interior features will include “Copperhead” accent stitching inside the cabin, accent-color Ram’s head embroidery on the headrests, colored–accent sport mesh on the seat inserts, and sport embroidery on the seats. The interior is complete with anodized orange-painted spears and trim rings.
The Ram 1500 Ignition Orange package will be in dealerships now, and will be limited to crew cab V-8 models with a starting MSRP of $43,740 plus $1,320 destination.

The all-new redesigned Ram 1500 is set to launch in early 2018. However, Fiat Chrysler will build the current Ram 1500 version well into 2019.
CFO Richard Palmer said last week, “Going into 2018, having more pickup capacity will allow us to also satisfy the fleet customers’ demand on pickup, which we struggle to do today because we favor retail in the U.S. and Canadian volume, which have higher margins.” He added, “As we realign our capacity, we’re going to be able to continue to work on improving our fleet mix.
The current light-duty pickup will continue production into 2019 in suburban Detroit at the Warrant Truck Assembly as well as in Saltillo, Mexico. Those plants plan to build 200,000 of the pickups in 2018 and 65,000 of those in 2019 before transitioning off to other products.
325,000 of the redesigned Ram 1500s will be built in 2018 at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. Production will pickup 25 percent to more than 400,000.
CEO Sergio Marchionne said, “We have taken a hard look at our level of penetration in some of the key truck areas in the U.S., and we’ve been deficient.” He adds, “And I think a lot of this has been because of the fact that we have not emulated people who have a longer history of success in this sector.”
Producing the current Ram 1500s until 2019 will ensure dealers have ample supplies of the hot-selling pickups. It will also allow a low-cost play for added fleet business with the retiring trucks, while appealing to consumers with the all-new features and technology on the new Ram 1500.
